How much can you build on a free plan? — Trying out systeme.io by building a landing page

Who this is for: Those who want to build and test a lead generation system for free (*This does not guarantee results such as the number of leads acquired or sales; what this article confirmed is the "operation from creating and publishing a landing page to reflecting it in the CRM"). Who this is not for: Those who want to run multiple products and multiple funnels in parallel, or those who want to use Japanese templates immediately. What you will not get from this article: Guarantees on the number of leads acquired, evaluation of paid plans, or confirmation of procedures for canceling billing and deleting accounts.

Key points (3 lines)
・We confirmed that an AI agent could actually operate the free plan of the all-in-one marketing platform "systeme.io" from creating and publishing a landing page to reflecting a test submission in the CRM. While the series of operations worked as intended, we also found that fictional contact information remained in the template's default values, and the operability of element deletion could not be evaluated due to the constraints of our lab's automated operation environment.
・This serves as material for individuals and small business owners who want to build and test a lead generation system within the free scope to judge "what can and cannot be done" before registering.
・The conclusion is based on a hands-on verification of the free plan as of August 30, 2026. Outcomes such as lead acquisition counts or sales are not measured or guaranteed, and the behavior of paid plans or the operation flow for billing cancellation/account withdrawal are out of scope.

Table of Contents

This article is a hands-on verification review targeting the free plan of the all-in-one marketing platform "systeme.io," where an AI agent actually operated the account to verify it. We chose the free plan as the subject of verification because it allows us to confirm the flow from registration to verification and introduction in the shortest time at zero cost (we plan to cover other tools with free tiers sequentially in separate articles). The AI agent actually operated the account, created and published one landing page, and confirmed that a test submission was reflected in the CRM. To state the conclusion first, our judgment is a "conditional recommendation." We will write exactly what we observed within the scope of our check, including not only the good points but also the issues that remained in the template's default values and the fact that the deletion operation did not work well in our lab's automated operation environment (the cause has been identified as being on our lab's environment side. Details below).

Scope
Target: systeme.io free plan / Verification scope: From LP creation to CRM reflection / Out of scope: Paid features, billing cancellation, account withdrawal, long-term operation, editing operations by humans / Unevaluated: Operability of element deletion (due to constraints of our lab's automated operation environment)

① What this is

systeme.io (Official Website) is an all-in-one marketing platform originating from France. "All-in-one" means that you can complete everything from creating pages to gather potential customers (landing pages), managing the collected contacts (CRM), delivering emails, to selling online courses and products within a single service, without combining multiple tools. Instead of contracting individual tools separately and linking them, it is designed so that you can assemble a series of flows from lead generation to sales using systeme.io alone. Even on the free plan, as long as it is within the scope described below, you can proceed to the stage of actually publishing a page and testing it.

② What we did

Reviewed on: August 30, 2026 (JST) / AI agent operation: approx. 48 minutes (from an already logged-in state, excluding initial registration time). The measurement environment was automated browser operation by a single AI agent. The work consisted of the following five tasks:

  1. Touring the dashboard and confirming free plan limitations (approx. 7 minutes)
  2. Creating a new funnel (a unit grouping a series of page flows from potential customer registration to sales) named "hakaru-lab-test-checklist" (approx. 3 minutes)
  3. Building the landing page body and setting up the form (approx. 28 minutes)
  4. Setting up the thank-you page template (approx. 3 minutes)
  5. Actually sending a test email and confirming its reflection in the CRM (approx. 4 minutes)

The page created for verification was temporarily published as part of the check and unpublished afterward. In the test submission of step 5, we were able to confirm the end-to-end process: automatically transitioning to the thank-you page after the submission action, and the new contact being instantly reflected in the CRM (contact list).

Additionally, we checked the free plan's usage limits on the "My Plan" screen of the dashboard. According to the screen display for the account as of August 30, 2026, the main limits of the free plan were as follows (only evergreen webinars [a feature to continuously stream recorded lecture videos automatically like live broadcasts] cannot be used on the free plan and require a higher-tier plan):

These numbers are based on the screen display for the account in question, and there are parts that do not fully match the descriptions on the official pricing and features page (such as the notation for the maximum number of students). Please check the official website for the latest official terms.

③ What was good

④ Situations where it doesn't fit & Points to note

In addition to the good points, we will also note the points of caution within the scope we were able to confirm. The following operational issues were observed in the verification environment of automated browser operation by an AI agent. We have not confirmed this time whether the same phenomena would occur if a human operated it manually.

Billing cancellation and account withdrawal are out of scope for evaluation (not verified via hands-on check this time). In this verification session, we set a boundary not to touch payments, plan changes, or account settings (see the Scope block at the beginning). Because it is a free plan, billing cancellation itself does not occur, but we did not operate and verify the flow for cancellation if one were to upgrade to a paid plan, nor the flow for withdrawing the account itself (data deletion). We want to make it clear that the "ease of cancellation" is not included in our evaluation criteria, and our judgments are strictly limited to the operational scope of the free plan. The official help documentation provides the cancellation procedure as "Settings -> Manage Subscriptions -> Cancel -> Confirm" (this is added as external information and is not a hands-on verification by our lab. Official cancellation guide).

Dummy contact information remained in the template's default values. Despite creating it with the objective to "Build an audience," the templates actually presented were mostly for multi-purpose sites unrelated to lead generation, such as job boards, theaters, farms, and cocktail bar event pages, and a simple 1-column opt-in specific design was nowhere to be found. The footer of the chosen template came with a dummy phone number (555-666-7891) and email address ([email protected]) pre-entered under the premise of being published. If published as is, there is a risk of unintentionally making fictional contact information publicly available. Before publishing, it is essential to check every corner of the template (especially the footer) yourself and rewrite it.

To conclude, this was not a product defect, but was caused by our lab's automated AI operation environment automatically closing the confirmation dialog. When we tried deleting text blocks, images, rows, and sections through multiple paths with no response, we initially suspected a bug on the product side. However, upon examining the browser's internal logs, we found that systeme.io was correctly displaying a confirmation dialog asking "Are you sure you want to delete this?", and our lab's automated AI operation environment was automatically suppressing that dialog and treating it as a "No" (it is highly likely that deletion would work normally when a human operates it manually). Due to this background, we were unable to remove unrelated decorative sections and duplicate forms bundled with the template during the verification, and we unpublished the page itself after the check. We also honestly record the lesson learned from this verification: when verifying web apps with AI agents, there is a pitfall where "what looks like a bug is actually a quirk of the verification environment."

In addition, unlike headings, button text could not be edited directly with a double-click, requiring us to scroll down to the bottom of the settings panel to find the dedicated field. Also, the heading on the thank-you page did not respond to the same editing procedure that worked on the opt-in page (triple-clicking to select all and overwriting), and the text remained unchanged without us being able to pinpoint the cause. Furthermore, the meaning of the choices in the confirmation dialog saying "This page has not been saved" that appeared when closing the editor was difficult to understand from the wording alone, leading to a situation where we actually made the wrong choice and lost the rewrite of the dummy contact information we had just performed.

⑤ Three criteria for recommendation

Whether to recommend or not is judged not by numerical scoring, but by the following three criteria.

CriterionJudgment (Confirmed / Conditional / Unconfirmed)Basis from hands-on verificationLimitations
(1) Was the practical value for the target use case confirmed through hands-on verification?ConfirmedWe actually verified the end-to-end operation from funnel creation -> LP editing -> form submission -> thank-you page transition -> CRM reflection. We confirmed that the minimum pathway for lead generation is established using only the free tier. The verification scope is limited to "LP creation to CRM reflection" (see the Scope block at the beginning). Finishing touches like deleting template elements could not be confirmed due to the constraints of our lab's automated operation environment (see ④ for details).
(2) Can users understand and judge the pricing, contracts, displays, and operation flows?ConditionalThe pricing table displayed all four plans side-by-side on the same screen, and the current plan was clearly labeled. During the work, we did not encounter any pushy behavior like interruptive modals or countdowns urging an upgrade.Fictional contact information (phone number, email address) was left in the template's default values, which risks being unintentionally published if overlooked by the user (requires prior checking, see ④ for details). The operation flow for billing cancellation and account withdrawal was out of scope and not verified (only external official cancellation guides were referenced).
(3) Does recommending it contribute to the appropriate judgment and benefit of the target users?ConditionalThe fact that one can test the minimum lead generation pathway without spending money, within the limits of 2,000 contacts and 3 funnels on the free plan, holds value for recommendation as practical training material with no initial cost.It is less suited for readers seeking parallel operation of multiple products and multiple funnels while remaining on the free plan (see ⑥ for details). Locale-specific conditions like the scarcity of Japanese templates and default currency settings are not included in the judgment for this criterion but are noted separately (see "Conditions when using in Japanese/the Japanese market" below).

(These criteria and judgment methods are based on our lab's methodology. Versions and revisions will be published on the methodology page.)

Conditions when using in Japanese / the Japanese market
・The templates are centered around event and store sites in the English-speaking world, so if you immediately want a highly polished landing page in Japanese, expect at least several tens of minutes of reworking as a prerequisite.
・The default currency during funnel creation is set to Euros, requiring confirmation and adjustment every time you proceed to payment-related settings.
・Explanatory and support information in Japanese is scarce compared to English, meaning there will be times you need to check primary sources like official help documentation in English.

These are not included in the judgment of the three criteria above. They are provided in a separate frame as additional points to note when considering use in Japanese and the Japanese market.

⑥ Use cases suited for the free plan / Use cases less suited for the free plan alone

⑦ Our lab's conclusion: Conditional recommendation and registration link

For the purpose of testing a minimal acquisition pathway without spending money, we conditionally recommend the systeme.io free plan. We do not judge the suitability of the overall product including paid plans.

Who this is for: Individuals and small business owners who want to build and test a lead generation system for free (this does not guarantee outcomes such as lead acquisition counts or sales). It is unsuitable if you are seeking the parallel operation of multiple products and multiple funnels, or the immediate use of Japanese templates. Reference date: Based on our hands-on verification as of August 30, 2026. We recommend trying it out while keeping in mind the points of caution raised above (deletion operations were unevaluated due to our lab environment's constraints, dummy contacts in templates, and billing cancellation/withdrawal are out of scope).
